Hey Motives, welcome back to Shades of Tone, where we dive deep into self-reflection, growth and, today, creativity. Yep, today we're exploring how creativity is not just for artists, but for everyone. Whether you're Picasso with a paintbrush or more of a stick figures only kind of a person, creativity is your secret weapon for wellness and self-expression. And, let's be honest, who doesn't want to live their most creative, authentic life? Grab your metaphorical paintbrush, folks. It's time to create, all right. So let's start with the basics. Why is creativity so essential for our mental, emotional and even physical well-being? Well, think of creativity as your brain's way of taking a deep breath. It gives you a break from the day-to-day grind and lets your mind play a little Plus. When we create, whether it's through writing, painting or even baking, we tap into parts of ourselves that we might not even know existed. Talk about a wellness jackpot. Cha-ching, cha-ching. When was the last time you tried something you've been wanting to try? What's holding you back? I challenge you to try something new this week. Send us a message and let us know how it went Now. Creativity can reduce stress, improve mental health and enhance self-awareness. The National Center for Biotechnology Information states that being creative makes you happier and has a positive effect on creativity, on subjective well-being. Speaker 1:Now, personally, I find that I can paint for hours without the slightest care for my phone or time. I also reflect on old journal entries and see how far I've come, which is really cool. Simply put, journaling or doodling have a calming effect on the mind. And let's be real, sometimes smashing colors onto a canvas is just more fun than talking about your feelings for the millionth time. Therapy's cool. Yeah, I know I am one, but so is finger painting. So creativity for the non-creative, all right.
Speaker 1:So I can already hear some of you saying but I'm not creative, I can barely draw a straight line. Well, spoiler alert, creativity has nothing to do with being a good artist. It's about expressing yourself in whatever way feels authentic to you. The goal isn't perfection, it's playfulness. You don't need to be a poet to write down your thoughts, and you don't need to be a dancer to move your body in a way that feels good. Think of creativity like a muscle the more you use it, the stronger it gets. Now everyone can be creative in everyday life, from taking a new rope home to trying out new recipes. We often limit creativity by thinking it's only for the talented. But we're all talented in our own ways and creativity, regardless of what it is to you, is the one most authentic things you can do.
Speaker 1:Creativity is a mindset, not an outcome. If you've ever solved a problem, daydreamed or told a funny story, you've already tapped into your creative side. Let's talk about creative outlets. Some people are all about the brush and canvas, but others might find their creative flow in unexpected places. So I've rounded up a few quirky, fun and maybe slightly unusual creative outlets for you to explore. Who knows, you might just find your next passion project. So the first one is writing.
Speaker 1:From journaling to poetry or even making up short stories, writing is one of the simplest ways to express yourself. You don't need to write the next bestseller, Just start with a single sentence. Music you don't have to be Mozart, tupac or Biggie Ever. Try banging on random objects to make a beat or singing your heart out in the shower. Music is a powerful way to tap into emotions. Photography Get out your phone, take a walk and capture the little things that catch your eye. It's not about filters. It's about seeing the world in a new way Movement and dance. Whether you're a graceful swan or a failing octopus. Guilty dance is a great way to express joy, frustration or just shake off stress.
Speaker 1:Cooking and baking Expressing yourself through food is an underrated art form. Play with flavors, try a new recipe or make your favorite childhood dish with a twist. Who knew food could be creative therapy? I have hundreds of recipes I've been saving over the years on my Facebook page and a lot of them have become staples, and my food pantry is now bursting with different spices and herbs ready for the next new meal. I once tried to express myself through interpretive dance. It turned into an impromptu workout. But hey, creativity and cardio. I lost a couple pounds, huh.
Speaker 1:Now here's the cool part when you tap into your creative side, you're not just making stuff, you're discovering yourself. Every time you write, paint or create something new, you're unlocking a little piece of your authentic self. It's like leaving breadcrumbs for your soul to follow. Plus, the more you create, the more you realize how much you've been holding back. Spoiler, you're capable of way more than you think. Did you know?
Speaker 1:Creativity can help people process emotions, gain new perspectives and reflect on their life journey. For example, writing in a journal might reveal thoughts or feelings you didn't know you had. Creativity is an ongoing journey. No need to rush or judge yourself. The more you embrace it, the more you grow. I, for instance, never knew I enjoyed painting until starting a project with my best friend. In addition, as a child I loved to read and draw. It was an outlet for me, but with becoming a parent and life happening, it got away from me. I didn't realize until about 10 years ago that a part of me was hidden and came back as I started to write, read more and be around people that brought my creativity out more. Tone Motivates was then born Ta-da. Now let's get real.
Speaker 1:Creativity isn't always pretty. Sometimes it's messy, chaotic and confusing, and that's exactly why it's so powerful. The beauty of creativity is that it doesn't have to be perfect. In fact, it's better when it's not. Remember we're expressing our authentic selves here, not trying to win an art contest. So let's, if your creative project turns into a glorious mess, embrace it. That's where the magic happens. I'm Forun, am a complete, organized mess, and I've learned to love it.
Speaker 1:Now please know that it is okay to embrace failure or imperfections in the creative process. Creativity is about freedom, not control. Experiment, try new things and let go of expectations. Remember that even failed projects can lead to new discoveries. Creativity isn't about making it pretty, it's about making it real. So here's the takeaway Creativity is your superpower. It's the key to expressing your authentic self and improving your overall wellness. And the best part, there's no right or wrong way to do it, whether you're finger painting, journaling or freestyle dancing in your living room, just let it flow. Give yourself permission to create, explore and, most importantly, enjoy the process. As always. Thanks for tuning in to Shades of Tone Today, where we're always growing, always creating and always embracing our beautifully messy, authentic selves. Until next time, keep creating and let your light shine and if all else fails, fingerprint your feelings. Trust me, it works, as always, always love.
