Speaker 1:

Hey guys, it's the one and only Tone Motivates how are y'all doing out there? Motives, how we doing Right in. Let me know what's good with y'all. Let me know about any episodes you might want to hear more about. Let me hear of any updates I might not have updated you guys on that you want to know about, but I want to hear from y'all motives. Let's get it. So today I would like to talk about mindful living and integrating mindfulness into daily wellness practices.

Speaker 1:

One of my favorite mindfulness quotes is by Susan Albers and she says training your mind to be in the present moment is the number one key to making healthier choices. Sometimes we're living in the past, we're worried about the future and we're not worried about the present moment, and something that really gets people to think about the present moment is this is the youngest you're ever going to be, ever in life. All right, so embrace that. Actually think about that. This is the youngest you're ever going to be. Enjoy it. Whatever issues you got tomorrow, still going to be there. Whoever aggravated you yesterday still going to be your ass tomorrow. It it's good. You know what I mean, but be conscious of what you absorb and what you let bother you. So let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

Let's talk about the mindful morning routine. So we're kicking things off in the mornings. We all know the drill, right? We wake up, stumble around like a damn zombie and scroll through our phones. But what if we could flip the script? What if we started our day with a little more intention and a lot more play? So imagine this as you wake up, instead of reaching for your phone, you stretch your arms like a cat. Meow, I mean, really stretch, okay. Let out a ridiculous yawn, maybe even make a funny noise. Then, before you roll out of bed, take a moment to just breathe, feel the air, fill your lungs and, as you exhale, mentally set an intention for the day. It could be something simple like today I will notice the small joys, or today I will laugh at least three times. So I have a self-reflection prompt for you guys. I want you to take a moment to think about your current morning routine. Is there a small, quirky mindfulness practice you could integrate? Maybe it's a gratitude breath before getting up, or a silly stretch to start the day. Write it down or just hold it in your mind and the next morning try that. The next morning, try that.

Speaker 1:

Now let's talk about playful presence throughout the day, no-transcript, when things can get a little chaotic. Meetings, emails, endless to-do lists but who says mindfulness has to be so serious? Here's an idea Pick a random object on your desk or in your environment. Maybe it's your favorite pen, a quirky coffee mug, or even that half-eaten snack you've been avoiding Every time. You see it today.

Speaker 1:

Pause for a second, take a mindful breath and smile. Yes, smile, no matter how stressed you are. Just smile at that object like it's an old friend. Did you know that it takes more muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile? Muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile? Make it a point to Smiling can actually trick your brain into feeling happier, even if you're faking it. It's like a little hack to boost your mood and bring you back to the present moment.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you found that a little difficult, think about the funniest memory you have have. Typically it has something to do with my nieces and nephews or when I'm being silly with my homegirls, but it it everybody has a moment in their lives or an experience in their lives, a memory in their lives where they laugh so hard they cried, might have peed pooted. Who knows, who knows, who knows? Yes, I said pooted. Okay, I grew up in a Christian background. We couldn't say fart and lie and all that stuff. So go ahead, judge your mama. But anyway, just think of that funny thing. And typically, with thinking about that funny thing, it'll authentically, genuinely make yourself laugh. Okay. So Think about that, jot it down, keep it in your head and just replay it every time you feel your mind getting away from you.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's talk about the art of mindful eating food. I love food so much. I love cooking too. Guys, you can follow me on social media because your girl be chefing up. I have over 200 recipes saved on Facebook alone, because every time I see a reel or a post about something I like, I'm going to save it. But it ain't just to be saved, it's to be savored, because I'm going to go to the store and get those items and I'm going to make it with love and heart Heart and love and I'm going to eat it and I'm going to enjoy it. It's one of life's great pleasures. Yet so often we rush through meals without really tasting them. Here's where mindfulness can turn a mundane task into a delightful experience Next time you eat, whether it's a full meal or a tiny snack, try this Before you take that first bite, pause.

Speaker 1:

Look at your food like it's a piece of art. Notice all of the vibrant colors, the beautiful textures, the wonderful smells. And when you do take that bite, chew slowly. Typically, I hear that they say chew about 30 times before you swallow. That's a little, that's a lot, but a lot of people take like 30 chews to finish their whole damn plate. Everybody knows somebody that just literally swallows the whole entire plate. So anyway, I'm sidebarring again. Sorry, guys, but let the flavors dance on your tongue. Maybe even imagine you're a food critic describing each taste in the most pretentious way possible, just for fun. Now another self-reflection prompt. What would happen if you made just one meal or a snack today a mindful experience? Imagine how different it would be to savor each bite. Consider making a note of how you feel before and after you eat this way.

Speaker 1:

Now let's wind down with weirdness, because I know that's my favorite part of the day. I'm dancing around in my drawers while I'm cleaning. You know what I mean. I'm listening to inspirational videos, I'm painting, I'm journaling, I'm creating courses content. I'm looking at what else I could do to work from home and be the greatest that I can be for no one else but me, and inspiring others while I'm on the way. So, finally, let's talk about winding down at the end of the day.

Speaker 1:

We often carry the stress of the day to bed with us, right? What if we could shake it off with a little bit of silliness? So, before you go to sleep tonight, do something totally, totally, totally weird. Maybe it's a goofy dance, talking in a funny voice or making up a nonsensical song about your day, fiki fiki. Let this be your way of letting go, of releasing the day's stress with a smile.

Speaker 1:

All right, so y'all notice I'm getting into some self-reflection prompts. You know what I mean, because I want y'all to reflect while y'all listening to these podcasts. I want you to really think about how you usually end your day. Do you go to bed upset? Do you carry the day before into the following day? Could you add a quirky ritual to help you unwind? Maybe you can make it a habit to end your day with a laugh. And there you have it, folks a quirky, mindful approach to daily wellness. Remember, mindfulness does not have to be serious or boring. It can be as fun and playful as you make it. So go out there, integrate these practices and, most importantly, don't forget to enjoy the journey.
